Somewhat bemused
So there I was, browsing through a thread on John Scalzi's Whatever on the Best Fan Writing Hugo Nomination and I see a comment by
kd5mdk that "The day for it is probably past, but I wonder if someone could have won Best Fan Writer strictly for comments posted on rec.arts.sci-fi.written or other popular discussion group. (I'd nominate James Burbidge based on that criteria)."
Well, as I said later on in the thread, I'm so peripherally engaged in fandom -- mainly via a couple of mailing lists, and I'm not very active even there these days -- that considering myself as any kind of possible entrant in a fandom-related category for anything, let alone a Hugo nomination, leaves me a little bemused. It's nice to know that one is appreciated.
