With regard to business owners complaining about the rise in the minimum wage: if your business model is predicated on paying people starvation wages, your business model is broken.

I am reminded of the various restaurateurs who insisted that the smoking ban would put them out of business. Also of the sudden evidence that the highly successful e-business Patreon is run by people who have absolutely no idea what their business actually is or does or why it has succeeded.

(Success is more luck than virtue. The affluent cabbage remains a cabbage. Things you know, and know better aphorisms, too, most likely.)
