Archive.org has a problem with older books (more likely to have irregular type) or ones with nonstandard English. The full PDFs look fine, as they have images of the pages, but the underlying text is a mess, because it's all raw OCR.
I haven't looked at the Bodleian; I should give it a look.
I have used the Archive.org version of Skeat, and found it to be usable with some considerable difficulty for the reasons given just above.
