Mar. 14th, 2015 09:22 amThere was a brief flurry of interest in Pi today on the radio as a result of it being Pi Day, with radio announcers who sounded as though they could remember nothing of their public school mathematics talking to mathematicians.
But for all that the keyword "transcendental" was being thrown around (without definition) there was no mention of e, the base of the natural logarithms, which is an equally important transcendental.
I suggest that we nominate the 27th of January as e day, for equal representation.
