1) David Weber has never finished a series story arc. In fact, he extended the length of the story arc originally planned for the Honor Harrington books and is now beyond where the story arc was supposed to have an end so that another could start. All of his series are off hanging there in the air, with later volumes that either were or are slated for writing.
2) One could place Rob Ford as a mediaeval vice, or a depiction of unregenerate man, very easily: the various details that have come out over the last few months include excellent examples of all of the Seven Deadly Sins.
3) One short book well worth reading: Francis Spufford's The Child That Books Built. Among other things it includes an extended meditation on reading the Narnia books, and another on the Little House on the Prairie series.
4) Also, recommended (but unfortunately available only in Toronto): Bellwoods Brewery on Ossington. I have liked just about every beer I have tried from this brewery. Their beer is not carried by the LCBO, but they have a store directly off their brewpub and it is open to very non-LCBO hours (until 11:00 on a weeknight).
